Jesus & Reiki

It is no secret that I identify as Pagan, but many of you may not be aware that Jesus Christ has been one of my role models ever since I left Christianity. Ironic, I know.

It wasn’t until I left the church that I discovered for myself the true teachings of Jesus both in and out of the Holy Bible. The books and gospels which never made it into the Bible or were taken out have been a huge source of comfort and inspiration to me at times when I left as if I was on the wrong path. Whether they were written centuries after Jesus’ time or whilst in conversation with him, those texts have given me guidance and have helped me greatly, specifically the Gospel of Thomas (discovered in 1945). Although there is much to debate about its authenticity as the actual words of Jesus, and its time frame since many scholars believe it was originally written in Syriac but we only have an original in Coptic, the words and the messages have been reassuring and profoundly affected my decision to become Pagan. Again, more irony.

I may write more about Thomas in another post, but today I want to touch upon some verses that are actually in the Holy Bible which I believe every Christian Reiki practitioner should be able to quote when defending their position as palm healers and followers of Jesus Christ.

These verses are from The New Testament, and I am quoting from the NLT Bible.

…the leader of a synagogue came and knelt before him. “My daughter has just died,” he said, “but you can bring her back to life again if you just come and lay your and on her head.”

Matthew 9:18

Please come and lay your hands on her, heal her so she can live.

Mark 5:23

A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to him, and the people begged Jesus to lay his hands on the man to heal him.

Mark 7:32

When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged him to touch the man and heal him. Jesus took the blind man by the hand and left him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?” The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.” Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His eyes were completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.

Mark 8:22-25

They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.

Mark 16:18

As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed everyone.

Luke 4:40

When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!

Luke 13:12-13

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”

John 14:12

“…O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power, may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Acts 4:29-30

“…I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so that he can see again.”

Acts 9:12

As it happened, Publius’s father was ill with fever and dysentery. Paul went in and prayed for him, and laying his hands on him, he healed him.

Acts 28:8

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other… The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.
